Americans for Political Tolerance is governed by leaders committed to cooperation and openness. As residents of traditional swing states, we understand the need for bipartisanship and we understand that despite the different viewpoints we may hold with our neighbors, we can still respect one another and co-exist peacefully.
Why Ohio?
Our Founder is a proud Ohioan and Americans for Political Tolerance is proud to be headquartered in Ohio.
Every four years, the partisan powers that be try their best to rip Ohioans apart and create an international media circus— but in this swing state, after their votes are in, Ohioans go back to their families and communities and get back to the things that matter. When the parties and PACs and pollsters leave and the cameras are gone, Ohioans are left doing what they do best: thinking for themselves and building a culture of belonging that is premised on more than party.
These next few months, we’re exploring how political tolerance has become a hallmark of Ohioans. We want to hear your stories and have a dialogue about how Ohioans can show the rest of the country how this swing state prizes connection, pragmatism, and dialogue over manufactured partisan divide. Can Ohio be a model for the country in learning how to put down the clickbait and talk to our neighbors again?
We’re heading to Bowling Green, Ohio, a key presidential campaign stop, and looking to hear firsthand from residents there who have survived many intense political moments in their small town how they actively choose tolerance. Join us on Tuesday, May 5th at the BG Community Market at Woodland Mall.
